status

Mikania vine (Mikania micrantha) is listed as noxious in class 1 throughout NSW. It is a notifiable weed and cannot be propagated or sold.  It is a fast growing perennial vine which has already become a troublesome weed in parts of tropical north Queensland.

look-alikes

The leaf shape of this vine is very similar to that of the common weed black-eyed Susan (Thunbergia alata), but the latter has conspicuous orange flowers with a black centre.  Mikania has small white daisy flowers.
